We are Victims; not Vamps.
New Delhi, Oct. 3: What do you do when you miss your mother-in-law? Reload and try again.
Mothers-in-law are sick and tired of jokes like this and have decided to take the bull, not the bahu, by its horns: they have formed a national platform to fight for their cause.
The All India Mother-in-Law Protection Forum (AIMPF), said to be the first-ever social forum floated by the much-maligned and lampooned tribe, has vowed to fight against negative stereotyping and push for greater legal protection of their rights.
“Our primary aim is to raise awareness in society about the state of mothers-in-law. It is time we changed the stereotyped thinking — it has to happen immediately. We cannot bear this any more. Enough is enough,” said Neena Dhulia, the co-ordinator of the forum.

Bangalore ladies are coming together to break social stereotypes and be heard, reports Vicky Nanjappa.
What’s the punishment for bigamy?
Two mothers-in-law.
Now that’s a joke Neena Dhulia from Bangalore would not be pleased with! You guessed it — she is a mother-in-law. But Neena is also the co-ordinator of the 500-strong All India Mother-in Law Protection Forum (AIMPF).
The Forum was born on September 6 with a loud and clear message: We are not what we have been made out to be in saas-bahu serials.
“Enough is enough,” she says adding, “It is time we too ensured that our voices are heard.”
Neena points out that even though there is a National Commission for Women, it is unfortunate that they don’t listen to the grievances of a mother-in-law with the same enthusiasm that they listen to the complaint of a daughter-in-law. “Why this discrimination?” she asks.

A group of Indian mothers-in-law have come together to fight the harassment they claim to endure at the hands of their daughters-in-law.
Fifty women have joined the All India Mothers-in-law Protection Forum (AIMPF), launched in Bangalore city.
A spokeswoman told the BBC that while there were 15 laws to protect the younger generation, there was nothing to protect mothers-in-law from abuse.
India’s National Commission for Women has acknowledged the problem.
It says that cases against in-laws are often registered by brides who are protected by strict anti-dowry laws.
But a number of the accusations turn out to be false. (more…)

Women are hardwired to hate their mother-in-laws who more often than not become soft targets of social defamation. The moment a mother becomes a mother in law, she becomes the numero uno villain in everybody’ eyes and the poor mothers-in-law thrive with this negative publicity.
We have Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Daughter’s Day, Friendship Day and what not days, but we do not have Mother-in-law Day, which in itself explains the poor and despicable condition of these women who marry their sons.
Through this website All India Mother-in-Law Protection Forum is being formed to protect the rights and interests of Mothers-in-law.
