21 May 10 The Anti Legal- Terrorism Day in India

The World Anti-Terrorism Day is observed all over the world on the 21st of May. Coincidentally, on the 20th of May 2005 Honorable Supreme Court of India termed misuse of Section as 498A as “Legal Terrorism” in its landmark judgment by Justice Arijit Pasayath.

Hence, in the same context, in India a day should be dedicated as “The Anti Legal- Terrorism Day”. It is the need of the present day as many unconstitutional, gender-biased, one-sided  “wife-centric and “Draconian Laws’ such as Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, Domestic Violence Act, the many Maintenance laws, Child-Custody and Divorce Law  are being randomly “Misused” by “Wives” and “Daughters –in –law” only with the sole intention of harassing the husband and in-laws and extorting a huge amount either as “Alimony or Maintenance” by manipulation of facts and false allegations on the whole family.

The protestors, belonging to the All India Mother-In-Law Protection Forum, Save Indian Family Foundation and Family Harmony Society, shouted slogans during the protest that lasted for an hour and a half in front of the Gandhi statue on MG Road.

30 Dec 09 Biological mother or enemy of daughter

In the Indian society “FEMALE FOETICIDE” is a common term. We generally talk of ‘GIRL CHILD HATRED’ among the parents specially a mother craving for a son and not for a daughter. The “GENDER BIAS” starts from this very thinking. A daughter being regarded as a liability by those parents who wish to encash the “MARRAIGE” of their daughter by marrying her in a family from where they can benefit monetarily is very common in the present society even at cost of hiding the shortcomings of the daughter. They want to “USE” her and so train her accordingly. This is the reason why they marry their “NOT SO GOOD” DAUGHTER” in a “RICH AND WELL TO DO FAMILY” from where they can encash money. A section of parents think it is their right to extort money from the in-laws of the daughter to make up for all that they spent on their daughter in natal home. The popular saying “LADKI PARAYA DHAN”, is used by them to make the” paraya  dhan“ of the “SON-In-LAW” (FREE ATM MACHINE) their own by filing false cases of “DOWRY HARASSMENT”, “DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND  MAINTENANCE” with help of the police, the lawyers the judiciary ,and the laws supporting them which can be” MISUSED” for this mission.

07 Sep 09 India mothers-in-law fight abuse

A group of Indian mothers-in-law have come together to fight the harassment they claim to endure at the hands of their daughters-in-law.

Fifty women have joined the All India Mothers-in-law Protection Forum (AIMPF), launched in Bangalore city.

A spokeswoman told the BBC that while there were 15 laws to protect the younger generation, there was nothing to protect mothers-in-law from abuse.

India’s National Commission for Women has acknowledged the problem.

It says that cases against in-laws are often registered by brides who are protected by strict anti-dowry laws.

But a number of the accusations turn out to be false. (more…)

07 Sep 09 Press Release:Launch of All India Mother-in-law Protection Forum (AIMPF)

PRESS RELEASE

Sub: Launch of All India Mother-in-law Protection Forum (AIMPF)

All India Mother-in-Law Protection Forum (AIMPF) is the first ever social forum created to protect the rights and interests of the mother-in-law. It is a non-funded non-profit organization which will create awareness about the problems faced by mothers-in-law and also fight against the de-facto villainous projection in the socio-legal arena. It can be reached at http://www.aimpf.org .

The mothers-in-law could not bear the harassment any further and said, “Enough is enough” and got together to campaign against:

  1. The stereotyping of mothers-in-law as evil and blood thirsty by media and popular culture. This violates the civil liberties and the constitutional provisions of right to liberty and right to life.
  2. It has been scientifically and also statistically established fact that mothers-in-law are unnecessarily maligned and subjected to judgmental attitudes by society.
  3. National Family Health Survey (NFHS) (http://www.nfhsindia.org Vol-1 Page 500) has conclusively established that a woman in the age group of 15-49 years of age faces 8 times more violence from her own mother compared to mother-in-law. 13.7% women have faced violence from their own mother as compared to 1.7% women who have faced from their mothers-in-law.
  4. Recent Research has shown that “daughters-in-law are programmed to hate mothers-in-law”. This is one of the most important causes of the stereotyping of mothers-in-law in society.
