11 Nov 09 Debate on misuse of family law
Bengaluru, Nov. 10: Akhila Karnataka Aththeyara Rakshana Vedike (Mothers-in-laws Association) in association with the Save Indian Family Foundation and the Child Rights Initiative for Shared Parenting will observe the National Family Harmony Day by holding a debate on the misuse of IPC section 498a (cruelty against women by spouses and other family members) in Bengaluru on Thursday. As per the National Crime Record Bureau, 1,23,000 women have been arrested between 2004 and 2007 under section 498a.
However, a report from the Centre for Social Research has revealed that only 2 per cent of such dowry harassment cases receive conviction, implying that the remaining has been victims of legal misuse as well, said Janaki Srinivasan, member of the Akhila Karnataka Aththeyara Rakshana Vedike. Over 200 mothers-in-laws from across the country are expected to take part in the meeting to be held between 2 pm and 5 pm at the Shaneswara Temple Hall at Hanumanthnagar

no where it was proved that mother in law has tamen extreem steps like daughter in law so many of them had been murdered,killed and voilently hit and thrown out of the house because the men always are stronger and male chavanism
it is the mothers instigation that the son starts the treatment to his wife and then all kind of abuses they recieve.
please tell me hoe many mother in laws were subjected to the voilence and ending the life
where as every a few hundrds of daughter in laws meet the voilence and finally so many of them end their life daily in India

First tell me how many women(or your wife)did you murder, kill and violently hit and thrown out because of your male chauvinism and because your mother or some other woman instigated you?
Will those women who got anticipatory bail show up in the NCRB records? If not, there may be equal or more number of women who face false allegations.
